Yasmina Reza’s play is about seemingly a simple dispute over a white painting. It’s seemingly a simple dispute since it quickly turns into tensions that arise when personal preferences and cultural value systems collide.

Reza makes a brilliant parallel of this collision to societal divisions driven by political and ideological disparities. Divisions that strain and polarize even the deepest, emotional, and very human bonds.
